For example Aretha Franklin’s “R.E.S.P.E.C.T.” was originally by Otis Redding. Today’s Deep Cover is also an Otis Redding original, covered here by the Black Crows, “Hard to Handle” originally recorded by Redding in 1968 reached #38 on the Billboard R&B charts and #51 on the pop charts. And you thought he was just the “Shitting on the Dock of The Bay” guy. Sitting! I meant Sitting!
