Some Where Over The Rainbow [Israel Kamakawiwo`ole / Judy Garland]

There are very few cover songs that can give me goosebumps. This is one of those songs. Simply beautiful, and almost an entirely different song than the Judy Garland original. Here is the Late Hawaiian musician Israel Kamakawiwo`ole

Psycho Killer

Grammy nominated group The Bobs were my introduction to the world of Acapella groups, and now I'm introducing them to you. While most Acapella groups are rather obscure, you may be familiar with their work, March and Fanfare, A.K.A. The Andy Kaufman Theme, his entrance music from his wrestling days. Here they are covering the Talking Heads.

99 (Red/Luft) Balloons

Here's an interesting tidbit, Nena's 99 Red Balloons was one of the of the first songs to name check a character from Star Trek, Captain Kirk. Here's Goldfinger doing a cover, you'd think they might change Kirk to Picard, to make it more modern and relevant, but they didn't.

Don't Be Cruel

2What happens when the King of rock and roll gets covered by one of the greatest rock bands of all time, Cheap Trick? You get a mediocre cover that's what! Rock on!

Careless Whisper [Seether / George Michael]

"Careless Whisper" was George Michael's first post Wham! song, although it was go written by that other guy, from Wham! You know the blond guy ... what was his name ... Alex Winter? This cover is by Seether and according to a review for Billboard, said, "the song is a mostly faithful take on the original, with guitars subbing for the saxophone intro before greeting a Staind-meets-Nickelback grunge dynamic. Younger rock fans who don't know George Michael from Boy George will love the song".

Cowboys Are Frequently,Secretly Fond Of Each Other [Deep Cover]

Originally released in 1981 by obscure Latin Country musician, Ned Sublette, "Cowboys Are Frequently, Secretly Fond Of Each Other" went absolutely no where. The song finally became famous after Willie Nelson released it. He'd sat on a demo of the song for nearly 30 years, and after the release of Brokeback Mountain, decided it might be time to actually record the damn thing. So while not the most well known of songs, it certainly qualifies as a Deep Cover.

Dancing Queen

P was a short lived rock band with the lead singer of the Butthole Surfers singing, and Johnny Depp and Flea on guitars. Here's their manly cover of the ABBA classic, Dancing Queen.

Shook Me Like A Prayer

The back story of the band Rock Sugar is that in 1989, the metal band was stranded on a dessert island, with the CD collection of a 13 year old girl, a CD player, and a lot of batteries. Although somehow while stranded on this desert island, lead singer Jess Harnell managed to find work as the voice of Animaniac Wakko Warner and as Bob Saget's voice over guy on America's Funniest Home Videos.

I could write something witty about this cover, but instead let's differ to one YouTube commenter: "Its.. like Madonna getting raped by AC/DC only to be dramatically re-enacted by Journey's lead singer."  My slogan for UnderCover With Crut is  "The Bands You Know! The Songs You Love! Just Not The Way You Expected ... "and this definitely fits the bill.
