Rounding out the cartoon covers, is Third Eye Blind. And three is a magic number … oh wait, that was earlier this week.

Awww yeah, slow jamming out another entry in my week of Cartoon Covers. Here’s the gang at Postmodern Jukebox belting out a tribute to Yakko, Wakko and Dot.
This is the third in my week of Catroon Covers. Because Three is a Magic Number.
How about a week of nothing but cartoon covers? Sweet! Get it? Cause Mary Lou Lord and Semisonic are covering “Sugar, Sugar” which was originally done by the cartoon band the Archies. Sweet.

One thing that has always surprised me, is the sheer lack of Meat Loaf covers. With a career spanning over 30 years, I’ve never found any … until today.
Here’s Jamey Johnson, turning the Mr. Loaf’s classic into a syrupy, twangy boatload of Waylon Jennings-ish classic country. Download for free.
Gotta love a good gimmick/name on a tribute band. A reggae sounding Zeppelin tribute band, why it’s Dread Zeppelin! I can’t explain the Elvis impersonator lead singer though.
Why, when I was trying to think of an Irish band to cover for St. Patty’s Day, was the first band I thought of was House of Pain? And then the first cover I find of House of Pain is by Limp Bizket. Ahhh fuck I’m drinking green beer.

This one was just posted by Smashing Pumpkins to their Facebook feed, so I thought I’d share. Here’s the Bad Rabbits doing 1979.
Download it for free.
The editor in mt can’t decide if Coldplay is one word or two. Same with Yellowcard. If I’m wrong I will try to fix you.
To me it’s a tragedy how overlooked Queen is in the pantheon of rock and how not overlooked they are in the world of television commercials.
Cover to Cover is where I give you my loyal readers the chance to comapre and contrast two different versions of the same song, back to back, or cover to cover. It’s not meant to start a war, it’s meant to let you in.

Depeche Mode’s Stripped, on title alone it sounds promising, but in actuality is a pretty terrible song to erotically remove your clothing too. It’s hard to dance too, and that 80’s synth is kinda distracting. Rammstein’s cover of the song is much much better for the previously mentioned activity. Yeah, I can totally see some hot German goth type chick with a spiked collar hanging by her ankles from the stripper pole while … sorry. I got distracted.
First Friday of the month, means it’s another Me First Friday. Here the Gimmie Gimmies do their beautiful take on XTina’s Beautiful.
Shoshana Bean sounds like something you’d order at Chipolte. “Yes, I’ll have a Shoshana Bean Burrito please, hold the Guac.”

Some people might say that Poison covering Justin Timberlake’s “SexyBack” is just a desperate attempt to stay relevant and appeal to the under 21 demographic. The counter argument is that bandanna Bret Micheal has had crazy glued to to his head for the past decade is some kind of mind control device that forced him to do it. I’m kidding of course. There is no other option than the first one.
Like all Blink-182 songs, this song is filled with lots of really deep sounding cliched meaningless metaphors. Whish is what makes it so deep.
No. Just no.
I never thought I’d get goosebumps by listening to a seven foot clown sing. Holy Crap. He should open and close with that song and do nothing in between.
If there’s ever been a president that was too drunk to fuck, it was Kennedy, maybe Clinton. Either way, Happy Presidents’ day bitches.

What better way to celebrate Presidents’ day than with a mattress sale. Since I don’t sell matresses, here’s the next best thing, four presidential covers!
They say being President of the United States is the loneliest job on earth. So with that in mind here’s presidentially named Bush covering New Order’s In A Lonely Place.
More romantic songs leading up the the VD. Little known fact, the Zombie apocalypse will start with Peter Frampton’s death, because Frampton comes Alive!!! Side note, this video is the most 90’s thing ever. White guys in dreadlocks?!?
stilrzgirl, I love your way.
Mirrors [Steve Acho / Justin Timberlake]
Miiror Mirror on the wall who is the fairest of them all? Why it’s stilrzgirl!
Allentown [John Mellencamp / Billy Joel]
Man, Johnny Cougar is looking old these days, Then again so is the piano man.
Love Song [Adele / Cure]
From the vault … March 18, 2011
One of the Cure’s most covered songs is “Love Song” or “Lovesong” as called to on some of their re-released / greatest hits albums. If the band can’t make up their mind what the song’s name is, how the hell do they expect the tags in my iTunes library to be immaculate? Rat Bastards. Anyway off her 21 album, here’s Adele’s soft sultry take on “Lovesong.”

Also Happy birthday to the most amazing woman I’ve ever met, stilrzgirl
Three Days [L7 with Waylon Jennings / Willie Nelson]
From the Vault … July 26, 2012
For money L7 was one of the most underrated bands of the grunge era. Me thinks it was because with a 100% female line up, they got lumped in with the Angry Cooter music with Alanis and Tori. Which is a shame because they were pretty kick ass.
Here they are with country legend Waylon Jennings covering Three Days from the Alt Rock Willie Nelson tribute album, Twisted Willie.
