Under The Bridge, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The King

Under the Bridge [The King / Red Hot Chili Peppers] Elvis covering the RHCP? No, not exactly. It’s an Elvis impersonator (named James Brown, because that’s not confusing) covering the Red Hot Chili Peppers’s “Under The Bridge."

Love Rollercoaster [Red Hot Chili Peppers / Ohio Players]

The Acadamy Awards occasionally overlooks cinematic brilliance. Such was the case with "Beavis and Butthead Do America." It had all sorts of cool stuff, including one dude who looked and sounded suspiciously like Hank Hill. There was also this Ohio Players cover by the Red Hot Chili Peppers on the soundtrack, back when movie soundtracks used to mean something.

Higher Ground

I was first introduced to this Red Hot Chili Peppers cover of Stevie Wonder via the soundtrack to the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie and while ... you know what?!? Fuck you for judging me okay! Did you ever see the movie? Then how do you know it wasn't on par with "Citizen Cane?" Yes, I'm aware of the spelling of "Kane," I'm talking about the porn version staring Candy Canes, where Rosebud was her ....  What I'm trying to say is, I never saw either of those movie I only acquired the CD for reasons I can't quite recall right now. Anyway some British rag called Trash Guitar called this song the second greatest cover of all time. Meh, I can live with that.

Under The Bridge [Cover to Cover]

More new features to the blog? When will the insanity end?

"Cover to Cover" is just that. Two (or more) cover versions of the same song, in one post. So that you can compare and contrast the similarities and differences in a three page essay. Got it, good. And belive it or not this is actually harder to come up with than you might think. I mean, yes I could play three versions of Landslide for example, but by the third the Landslide really would have brought you down. Made that mistake once. Never again.

Three versions of the Red Hot Chili Peppers original "Under the Bridge." The first is by mid-90's girl group, All Saints best known for their hit ...uhm .. well they had a number one hit in like 1997. If you heard it you'd remember it and so would I. The second is by the Gym Class Heroes from the Punk Goes 90's album. The final version is by Scala and Kolancy Brothers, a Belgian girls choir. Wait, what? Anyway, you'll see them back on the blog someday as they do some killer covers.
